LIV Golf - LIV DC
Harold Varner III claimed his first LIV title with a one-shot victory over Branden Grace. Varner holed out from the bunker on the 11th hole to maintain his lead on the back nine and ended the day one clear of Grace.
Branden Grace managed to birdie his last hole to shoot 66 and get to 11 under. Graceโs birdie put the pressure on Varner to make a birdie on his 18th hole. After hitting the fairway on the par 5 18th, Varner calmly hit his second on the green and left himself a comfortable two-putt for the win.
For Varner, it was his first-round 64 that got him out to an early lead, and then he closed it out on Sunday. Varner spoke in his interview after about how the win and $4 million prize is going to help his foundation and reach a lot more people.
From the HV3 Foundation website:
My vision for the HV3 Foundation is to bring awareness to the rising cost of entry and access in sports. The foundation will aim to provide financial assistance for equipment, after school programs, instruction, camps, and various other avenues where an athlete can cultivate his/her passion.
On the team side, it was team Torque, captained by Joaquin Niemann that claimed victory. The team's low scorers for the week were Mito Pereira, who finished solo third, and Sebastian Munoz, who finished fourth.
PGA Tour - Charles Schwab Challenge
Emiliano Grillo wins in a playoff over Adam Schenk for his first win on the PGA Tour since 2015. The 8 year winless drought ended at Colonial with a birdie on the second playoff hole.

Grillo had an adventorous day starting with two birdies and two bogeys. On 18, Grillo stood on the tee with a 2 shot lead at the time and proceeded to hit his driver right into a drainage canal. After a ruling resolved Grilloโs moving ball in the water situation (for the full breakdown, see the PGA Tour video), he made a double bogey and fell back into a tie for the lead.
Bizarre scenes on 18.
Leader Emiliano Grilloโs tee shot finds a water stream and takes five minutes to eventually come to a stop.

Grilloโs water ball on 18 left the door open for Adam Schenk who had a makeable birdie putt on the last to win outright. Schenkโs putt came up just short and the two headed to a playoff.
On the first playoff hole, both Schenk and Grillo made par to move to the 16th. On the 192 yard par 3 Grillo hit a fantastic tee shot to 5 feet while Schenk went over the green. Grillo was able to make the birdie putt and clinch the victory.
Scottie Scheffler continued his stellar year with a final round 67 to nearly make the playoff. Schefflerโs final round included a hole-in-one on the 8th hole.
First-round leader, Harry Hall, struggled on Sunday but still finished in a tie for third after opening the tournament with a 62. The third place is his best finish for the year after a tie for seventh earlier in the year at the Puerto Rico Open.
DP World Tour - KLM Open
Pablo Larrazรกbal won in the Netherlands at the KLM Open. It was Pabloโs second win this year after winning the Korea Championship at the end of April.
Larrazรกbal birdied 3 of his last four holes to win by two shots over fellow Spaniard Adrian Otaegui.
The win moves Larrazรกbal to 9th place in the European Points standings for the Ryder Cup, while the second-place finish moves Otaegui to 6th.
Rasmus Hรธjgaard had his best finish of the year with a tie for third.
LPGA - LPGA Match-Play
Pajaree Anannarukarn won the Match Play event at Shadow Creek over Ayaka Furue. Pajaree capped the week with a 3 & 1 victory in the final match. Pajaree had to get through a playoff with Karis Davidson to advance to the knockout rounds. Her most impressive match of the week was her semifinal against Linn Grant, where Pajaree made eight birdies in 14 holes and easily advanced to the finals. In the final match, she made another four birdies over 17 holes.

Despite missing a couple of short putts, Pajaree Anannarukarn kept hitting solid approach shots and putting pressure on Furue. She had multiple birdies conceded on the back nine alone after hitting brilliant approach shots. Furue hit it within tap-in range on the par three 13th hole to get the match back to 1 down, but Pajaree returned on the 14th with a birdie and regained a 2 up lead. She closed out the match on the 17th hole with a great tee shot that shut the door on any comeback hopes for Furue.
For Ayake Furue, she came so close once again. She was in the championship match last year and came up just short for the second year. Her play throughout the week was impressive, with an undefeated record in the group stage and a big semifinal win over Leona Maguire. In addition to her second-place finish this week, Furue has four other top-5 finishes and continues a strong 2023.
Japan LPGA - Resort Trust Ladies
