Despite a week that saw him leading by a comfortable margin, Matt Kuchar experienced the volatility of golf firsthand. A daunting quadruple bogey on the 15th hole during the third round shrunk his six-shot advantage, ultimately finishing in a tie for second place.
Camilo Villegas, often seen on the Korn Ferry Tour this year, delivered an impressive performance to finish tied with Kuchar in second. Playing on a sponsor's exemption, Villegas’s bogey-free 66 in the final round helped him to his best finish of the year.
Among other notable performances, Justin Suh finished in fourth place with a bogey-free 65 on Sunday. Ryan Palmer and Andrew Putnam, tied for fifth, with Putnam tying the low round of the tournament on Sunday with ten birdies and eight pars to shoot a 62.
Chesson Hadley and Mackenzie Hughes finished in a tie for seventh, with Hadley rebounding from an even-par third round to post a 63 on the final day.
Akshay Bhatia and Ludvig Åberg shared the tenth spot among others.
LPGA and Japan LPGA - TOTO Japan Classic
Mone Inami won the Japan Classic by one shot for her 13th victory on the Japan LPGA and first victory on the LPGA Tour. While Inami has been a frequent winner in Japan over her career, the win is her first since August 2022. Japan’s Shiho Kuwaki and Korea’s Seon Woo Bae tied for second, just a stroke behind, earning $157,000 each with solid performances.
Jiyai Shin and Xiyu Lin shared fourth place at 20 under par, with Shin notably shooting a seven under 65 in the final round. For Lin, the fourth place finish is her eighth top 10 of the year, as she continues a strong year.
Gemma Dryburgh shot a final round 65 to finish in 6th place and crucially move inside the top 60 on the Race to CME Globe points for the season finale.
While Nasa Hataoka was tied for the lead at one point, a final round 74 saw her slip into a tie for eighth.
Asian Tour - China Open
Thai player Sarit Suwannarut won by six shots in China for his second Asian Tour victory. Suwannarut started Sunday three shots off the lead and stormed to the front with a final round 64. The win is a welcome turnaround for Suwannarut, whose best finish this year was a tie for ninth place at the Indonesia Open.
China’s own Guxin Chen slipped back with a one over par 73 on Sunday to tie for second alongside Taiwan’s Taichi Kho. Kho fired a final round 65 to capture his third straight top-ten finish after winning the Men’s Asian Games event.
LIV golfer Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra held the lead after 36 holes but couldn’t keep the momentum over the weekend and finished in fourth.
Japan Golf Tour - Mynavi ABC Championship
Keita Nakajima, former world amateur number 1, won in Japan for the third time this year with a three-shot victory over Shaun Norris. Nakajima now has 14 top-10 finishes in his first full year on the Japan Golf Tour.
