DP World Tour - European Masters
Ludvig Aberg wins in Switzerland for his first DP World Tour win and a breakthrough victory for the rookie. The sensational Swede finished the tournament with a final round 64, cementing his case for a Ryder Cup spot.
Close on Aberg's tail was Alexander Bjork, another Swede, finishing in second place, Scotland's Connor Syme, and England's Matt Fitzpatrick tying for third place. Fitzpatrick couldnโt get it done on Sunday but continued his string of success in Switzerland at the European Masters.
Nicolai Hojgaard also had a strong week, finishing in a tie for fifth and also making a strong final statement for a Ryder Cup pick.
Bob MacIntyre did enough by making the cut to earn one of the six guaranteed spots on the European side for the Ryder Cup. Captain Luke Donald will announce the rest of the six picks on Monday.
LPGA - Portland Classic
Chanettee Wannasaen of Thailand came out of nowhere to win for the first time on the LPGA tour. Not only did she emerge as a Monday Qualifier - a rarity in itself - but the 19-year-old came from a shot behind on Sunday to clinch the title with a spectacular Sunday 63.
After her, Xiyu Lin of China placed second with a final round 64.
In a three-way tie for third, we had Ruoning Yin from China, Carlota Ciganda from Spain, and Gina Kim from the United States, each taking home $81,300. Of particular note, Kim started the tournament with a blazing 64, 8 under par in the first round.
Megan Khang was the 54-hole leader but had a slightly rocky final round of 71, 1 under par, placing her sixth.
Japan Golf Tour - Fujisankei Classic
Takumi Kanaya displayed consistency across the board, clinching the top spot for the third time this year. While Kanaya secured the top prize, Naoyuki Kataoka finished close behind in second at four under par.
Taichi Nabetani and Shugo Imahira also made commendable strides, with Nabetani settling for third and Imahira tying for fourth alongside Keita Nakajima, both two under par. However, a special nod goes to Taiki Yoshida, who, after a rocky start in Round 2, managed to bounce back brilliantly in the next two rounds to tie for sixth.
Korea LPGA - KG Ladies Open
Yeun Jung Seo triumphed on the first playoff hole over Seung Hui Ro, clinching victory at the KG Ladies Open. Although Seo's final round was even par, her impressive second-round score of 63, 9 under par, solidified her place at the top of the leaderboard.
Japan LPGA - Golf 5 Ladies
Kokona Sakurai clinched the top spot, securing her third win on the Japan LPGA tour at just 19 years old. Sakurai finished with an impressive ten under par. Miyuu Yamashita and Sakura Koiwai both showcased stellar performances, tying for second at nine under par. Despite her high finish, Ai Suzuki struggled in the final round, finishing even par, but still secured fourth place.
Ladies European Tour - Women's Irish Open
Smilla Tarning Soenderby dazzled the crowd with her 10-under-par performance on Sunday and a playoff win. She secured the win with an eagle on the very first playoff hole. Soenderby's rollercoaster week included an eagle, 28 birdies, and a handful of bogeys, with her final round of 62 stealing the show.
Not to be overshadowed, Anne van Dam and Lisa Pettersson also made their presence felt, ending up in a playoff. While both showcased stellar performances throughout the week, the final round's challenges were evident, with van Dam carding a 71 and Pettersson finishing even-par.
