U.S. Women's Open

Allisen Corpuz claimed the first US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach. She won in dominating fashion with a three-shot victory and shooting all four rounds under par.

On Sunday, Corpuz closed the opening nine of her final round one under, and made the turn with a one shot lead. A big moment came on the twelfth hole, where she had missed her approach into the front bunker short siding herself. She hit her bunker shot safely to 16 feet and then holed the putt, her longest made putt of the week, for par to keep the lead. Birdies at the fourteenth and fifteenth extended her lead and closed the door on any chasers.

Corpuz did a great job handling the pressure down the stretch. She was trying to capture not only her first major win but also first LPGA win. She had been trending earlier in the year with a tie for fourth at the Chevron and tie for fifteenth at the PGA Championship and was able to keep her composure finishing at Pebble.

Corpuz is the first American since 2016 (Brittany Lang at CordeValle) to win the U.S. Women’s Open.

Nasa Hataoka played a near flawless Saturday round to get a spot in the final pairing. Hataoka’s 66 on Saturday was nearly 9 strokes better than the field average on the day. She couldn’t keep the momentum going on Sunday, struggling on the back nine with costly bogeys to fall behind.

Charley Hull made an early run on Sunday to get into the mix. She shot a 32 on the front nine with 3 birdies and an eagle. Hull then made a lengthy birdie putt on the 16th to pull within two of the lead. Her six under on Sunday was the best round of the day but still not enough to catch Corpuz. The top 3 finish was Hull’s best of the year since her tie for second at the opening event of the year.

Friday tournament leader Bailey Tardy ended up finishing in a tie for fourth. It was the biggest finish for the LPGA rookie who had to get through a playoff to qualify for the tournament.

PGA Tour - John Deere Classic

Sepp Straka won the John Deere Classic with an incredible Sunday performance. Straka nearly had a 59 on Sunday but made a double bogey on the last hole after hitting one in the water. He still had enough to win by two shots. It was the second PGA tour win for the Austrian after his first came in 2022 at the Honda Classic.

PGA tour rookie Ludvig Aberg had a great Sunday, tying for fourth place with an 18-under-par finish. Aberg's closing round 63 included 6 birdies and an eagle.

American players Brendon Todd and Alex Smalley tied for second, each two shots back of Straka.

Another notable was Peter Kuest, who finished in a tie for seventeenth which was good enough to earn special temporary membership on the PGA Tour.

LIV London

Cameron Smith went wire-to-wire at Centurion Club, winning his first event of the year. He got off to a hot start with a 63 in the first round and played solid on the weekend. For Smith, it was his last start before he heads to defend his title at The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

Patrick Reed and Marc Leishman battled it out to a tie for the second spot, finishing one back of Smith. Leishman was steady throughout the week, and Reed put together a closing nine-hole stretch that included six birdies.

On the team side, Dustin Johnson’s Four Aces came from behind to win over the Aussie Ripper team.

DP World Tour - Made in HimmerLand

Rasmus Hojgaard clinched his fourth European Tour victory in his home country at the Made in HimmerLand tournament. The Dane came from behind and made six pars in the playoff to secure the win.

Coming in with a playoff loss, Nacho Elvira from Spain demonstrated impressive resilience. He managed to keep up with Hojgaard in the playoff but came up just short.

Bob MacIntyre, unfortunately, ran out of steam on the final nine, losing his lead after making the turn and finishing in a tie for fourth place.
