Olympia Fields hosts BMW playoff event on PGA Tour, European men’s and women’s event in Northern Ireland, Asian Tour heads to the UK
Top 100 preview
This week the top men are in Chicago for the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour. Three others from the top 100 are in the field on the DP World Tour, while two players are playing in the Asian Tour’s International Series event in England.
A quieter week on the women’s side as most are off after the major season wrapped up last week with The Open Championship. Of the top 100, 13 are in the Korea LPGA event, 12 in the Japan LPGA event, and the other 8 at the co-sanctioned event in Ireland.

PGA Tour - BMW Championship
The main event this week is the second playoff event for the PGA Tour. The top 50 go to Olympia Fields outside Chicago for this year's BMW Championship. It's the pivotal last event before the Tour Championship in Atlanta and offers players a chance to get into the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings to punch their ticket to the season finale.
Patrick Cantlay, winner of this event for the last two consecutive years (though on different courses), will be keen to secure a three-peat.
When Olympia Fields last played host in 2020, Jon Rahm walked away with the title. Rahm is currently atop the FedEx Cup standings, and if he holds on at the top will start the Tour Championship at 10 under.
PGA Tour - Top 10 FedEx Cup
Lucas Glover looks to become the first player since Tiger Woods to win in three straight weeks on the PGA Tour.
Some notables outside the top 30 that need a good result at the BMW to play their way in include Sahith Theegala, Justin Rose, Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young, and Hideki Matsuyama.
Asian Tour - International Series England
The Asian Tour heads to Newcastle upon Tyne for the International Series England played at Close House's Colt course. It is the first of two weeks where The Asian tour is in the UK for the International Series.
The field includes a host of LIV players, including Patrick Reed, Abraham Ancer, and Anirban Lahiri.
ISPS Handa World Invitational
Ballymena, Northern Ireland, plays host to players from the DP World Tour, Ladies European Tour, and LPGA for the ISPS Handa World Invitational. Two separate tournaments are held for men and women, but both are happening concurrently across Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Castlerock Golf Club.
On the women’s side, Leona Maguire is the top-ranked player in the field and is coming off a tie for 30th at Walton Heath last week. Northern Ireland’s Stephanie Meadow is also in the field and has had success in the past at the event with a win in 2019.
On the men’s side, all eyes will be on Tom McKibbin, the young Northern Irish golfer who won on the DP World Tour at the European Open earlier in the year. The event also provides a final push for Ryder Cup hopefuls on the European side, with Victor Perez and Robert MacIntyre looking to secure their spots.
