The Masters
The highly anticipated first major of the year starts Thursday morning. The field is set at 88 players. Scottie Scheffler is looking to defend his title and join Tiger, Jack Nicklaus, and Nick Faldo as the only players to win back-to-back years. Rory McIlroy is trying to complete the career Grand Slam after coming in second last year.
The forecast is less than ideal, with cooler temps and rain forecasted through the weekend. Early indications are that Sunday afternoon looks clear.
Changes at Augusta National include the par 5 13th, which was lengthened by 35 yards with the tee box pushed back. With a longer approach shot, players will now face a tougher decision of whether to go for the green in two compared to recent years. Expect to see more layups this year.
The Featured Groups for Thursday include:
10:18 am -- Tiger Woods, Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland
10:42 am -- Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Cameron Young
1:36 pm -- Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa, Sam Bennett (a)
2:00 pm -- Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, Tony Finau
